Meet Nick Hunter, Project Manager at Stevens Towing.

Nick joined our team in 2024 wanting to bring his skills as a port engineer to a new role that aligned with his career goals. (We love to see people grow!)

What drives Nick?
Seeing a vessel leave the dock after weeks of work and knowing the job was done right. That moment makes every hour worth it.

Nick says the best part about working at Stevens Towing is the crew. A team that supports each other and takes pride in doing things right, the first time.

Two projects he’s especially proud of:
▪ @mansonconstruction Freeport dump scow dry-dock
▪ Nexans Marmac 306 CLB mobilization — a complex job with hundreds of moving parts and major crane installs

👉 His advice to anyone entering the marine industry:

The Atlantic Dawn recently hauled out on our Marine Travelift at the Stevens Towing Yonges Island shipyard.

This 85’ x 27’, 2,400 hp vessel, powered by twin @cummins KTA-38M2 engines with Twin Disc MG 530-1DC reduction gears and 76” stainless fixed-pitch props, continues to serve the Gulf for Dawn Offshore Services (New Orleans, LA).

Another hardworking boat through our yard, and another project we’re proud to support.

Our crews run up and down the East Coast in every kind of weather … sun, rain, sleet, and storms.

This shot was taken on one of our northern runs, pushing through winter conditions when most folks were stuck inside staying warm. That’s the reality of work on the water: no off-season and no waiting on perfect conditions.

Our crew was called in to recover a 60-foot sailboat that ran aground near the Charleston jetties and started taking on water.

Using a floating crane, barge, and the tug Island Express, we lifted the vessel out and brought it back to dry land safely.

The four people onboard had already been rescued without injury thanks to quick action by the City of Charleston Police Department Harbor Patrol Unit and the Charleston County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol. Once everyone was safe, we handled the salvage.

💪 Proud of our crew and the teamwork that got it done.

Some behind-the-scenes photos of our crew preparing the 120-foot steel-hulled former Navy torpedo vessel HAZAR for its offshore sink to become an artificial reef.

She was sunk last weekend 40 miles off the #CharlestonSC coast and will now provide habitat for marine wildlife, fishing and diving opportunities.
