On May 22, Stevens Towing partnered with St. Paul’s Fire District for a confined space training exercise at our Yonges Island Shipyard. This live-action drill gave first responders vital hands-on experience using specialized rescue equipment—ensuring they’re ready when every second counts.

This month, 4 talented students from Baptist Hill High School wrapped up their apprenticeship at our Yonges Island Shipyard. This past semester, they’ve gained hands-on welding experience under the guidance of William Holmes, our retired shipyard supervisor with 25 years of expertise.

A huge congratulations to this year’s apprentices:

Stevens Towing has partnered with local high schools throughout the Charleston area since 2017 to help shape the next generation of skilled tradespeople and maritime professionals. These dedicated students earn elective credits toward their high school diplomas while learning welding techniques and gaining valuable soft skills and career development through lessons on financial literacy, communication, and more.
