Stevens Towing was awarded the contract to provide a barge that will be used as a platform for the commisioning ceremony of the new Virginia Class submarine U.S.S North Carolina (SSN 777). This is the fourth Virginia class submarine, it will carry the name of the state of North Carolina. More than half a century has elapsed since a U.S. Navy ship has borne the name, “North Carolina”.
