Savannah Heavy Lift in Partnership with Stevens Salvage Team Floats Sunken Dry Dock on the Savannah River

Savannah Heavy Lift was contracted to float and remove a sunken dry dock in the Savannah River that was on the verge of being in the main shipping channel. The dry dock was 70ft wide x 98ft long x 4.6ft deep and weighed 168 short tons. Due to silt, mud, and water it weighed much more than this when it came time to lift. This was an extremely difficult and complex job which required us to work closely with the Harbor Pilots, Harbor Master, and the United States Coast Guard to keep from interrupting day to day operations in the shipping channel. Our expertise in rigging engineering allowed us to quickly accomplish the planned lift by safely removing the dry dock without disrupting port operations.
