Heavy lift project in the Port of Charleston.

After a railcar carrying a 420-ton generator overturned, our team worked alongside Resolve Marine and Charleston Heavy Lift to support a complex recovery operation.

Stevens Towing helped prepare and outfit a deck barge capable of safely receiving both the generator and railcar.

Through careful coordination and steady communication on site, the generator was removed, uprighted, and returned to the customer. The railcar was also recovered, righted, and transported back into the port for repair.

Strong teamwork from start to finish.

This is what it looks like to send a ship to the bottom of the Atlantic — on purpose.

Our crew raised the HAZAR out of Bohicket Creek, cleaned and prepped her at the shipyard, towed her 40 miles offshore, and sunk her to the ocean floor.

Now this 120-foot former Navy torpedo vessel is a permanent artificial reef, building habitat and new life underwater.

In this video, you’ll hear directly from Stevens Towing crew members who led the operation. What it took, how it worked, and what it’s like to take a ship down on purpose.

Nick joined our team in 2024 wanting to bring his skills as a port engineer to a new role that aligned with his career goals. (We love to see people grow!)

What drives Nick?
Seeing a vessel leave the dock after weeks of work and knowing the job was done right. That moment makes every hour worth it.

Nick says the best part about working at Stevens Towing is the crew. A team that supports each other and takes pride in doing things right, the first time.

The Atlantic Dawn recently hauled out on our Marine Travelift at the Stevens Towing Yonges Island shipyard.

This 85’ x 27’, 2,400 hp vessel, powered by twin @cummins KTA-38M2 engines with Twin Disc MG 530-1DC reduction gears and 76” stainless fixed-pitch props, continues to serve the Gulf for Dawn Offshore Services (New Orleans, LA).

Another hardworking boat through our yard, and another project we’re proud to support.
