Stevens Towing’s Sea Islander assisted in towing the decommissioned tug Andy Jr. offshore for deployment as an artificial reef off Hilton Head Island.

At about 40 feet in length, the Andy Jr. spent years working for the Dupre Family and Cape Romain Contractors Inc. Now she’s settled on the ocean floor creating new habitat for fish and marine life.

This marks the second reef deployment at this location in the past 14 months, done in memory of Alison Berry, a longtime advocate for South Carolina’s coastal resources.

We were proud to work on this project alongside @ccasouthcarolina, Sea Hunt Boat Company, and the @scdnr.

Several members of our team participated in the 2026 Nucor Steel Berkeley Charity Golf Tournament in support of @musckids and the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

From the Pacific to the Atlantic.

Our tug Sea Crescent towed two Navy vessels across the country on the Stevens 2501 deck barge.

Seattle → San Diego → Panama Canal → Chesapeake Bay → Rhode Island → Maine.

A long run for the Sea Crescent and a lot of good people involved in getting it done. Thanks to everyone who played a part in the move.

Captain Frank Litaker spent 34 years with Stevens Towing.

This video shows him running southbound with two hopper barges through the Alligator River Bridge in a 20 mph wind.

Handling a tow in conditions like that takes experience, judgment, and steady hands.

These are the kinds of moments that shape a company. They build deep roots in a region and a lasting respect for the work done on the water.

That legacy continues today.
