Inside the HAZAR: once stranded in the mud of Bohicket Creek, now safely in our Yonges Island shipyard.

Our team carefully removed this 120-foot former Navy torpedo retriever, helping protect South Carolina’s waterways while preserving a piece of maritime history.

Them: “How big is that travel lift?”

Us: “This big” (arched back, arms stretched as wide as possible)

This massive piece of machinery seen here is the Marine Travelift 820 Mobile Boat Hoist located at our Yonges Island Shipyard near Charleston, South Carolina. It stands 70 feet high by 87 feet wide and can handle vessels up to 820 metric tons (1.8 million lbs). Making it the largest marine travel lift in South Carolina and among the largest in the entire Southeast.

It’s a game-changer for marine services across the Southeastern United States. And it is entirely American-made.

Built for the night shift.

When others head home, our crews and equipment keep moving- lifting, hauling, and powering through the darkness.

Day or night, we’re made to get the job done.

Stevens Towing hosts shipyard fire fighting drill.

Our Yonges Island Shipyard recently welcomed the local St. Paul’s Fire District for a hands-on shipboard fire fighting exercise. Training included fire detection, extinguishing systems, safety procedures, and real-world simulations to keep fire crews ready for any emergency on land or water.

We’re proud to support local first responders serving Hollywood, Ravenel, Adams Run, Edisto Island, and surrounding areas.

Training like lives depend on it—because they do.

From welder to Quality Assurance Manager, Janna joined our team in 2020 and has been a vital part of the team ever since. She quickly built up our quality assurance program and became a certified welding inspector. Her team makes sure every repair meets Coast Guard and ABS standards, certifies welders, and keeps projects running smooth.

Her favorite part? Laying out repair plans for each unique job. Off the clock, you’ll find her saltwater fishing.

Stevens Towing is grateful to have hard working, dedicated individuals like Janna on our team.

The Coastal Explorer isn’t built just for looks, it’s built to work.

She was hoisted up on the @marinetravelift at our Yonges Island shipyard.

This 54’ Armstrong Marine catamaran runs on twin Cummins 6.7L diesels and holds an 8,000 pound deck capacity. With dual winches, it’s ready to handle whatever the job throws at it.

What it takes to move 150 tons.

Yesterday, we shared a look at the 150-ton Komatsu excavator lift—today, you can see the transport in action.

Stevens Towing moved a @komatsuconstructionna PC1250LC-8 excavator with our Ocean Ranger heavy lift crane and tug Island Express.

It’s now on site at Hugh Leatherman Terminal, ready to dig.

Stevens Towing partnered with Barnhart to complete an emergency generator move from Charleston, SC to Providence, RI.

Using our 500-ton crane, Ocean Ranger, we loaded the Siemens generator onto a barge and carefully navigated through a challenging roll off site in Providence. The boat landing space was originally 27’, but with plans to remove all floating docks, it opened up to 41’6” with our 40’ barge coming through.

The crew got the job done safely and on time, proving once again why Stevens Towing handles tough jobs with skill and experience.

Abandoned boats aren’t just an eyesore—they’re a threat to South Carolina’s marshes. At Stevens Towing, our salvage team removes derelict vessels to protect the coast and keep waterways safe.

“Right here in South Carolina, we have some of the best oysters in the world. They’re filter feeders—any pollutants go through them. The sooner we get sunken boats and pollution out, the better,” says Captain Cameron White.
