Stevens Towing supported the recent launch and transportation of @NOAA’s new state-of-the-art floating pier project in Charleston alongside #KEEL and other project partners.

The project included the movement of a 360-foot floating pier, a 160-foot gangway, and an 80-foot trestle as the structures were prepared for final installation in North Charleston.

Our #tugboats assisted with transporting the floating pier sections and supporting operations at our Yonges Island shipyard as the project moved toward installation in North Charleston.

The completed project will support NOAA’s marine operations and research efforts for years to come.

We moved a 300-ton house up the Intracoastal.

In 1986, Stevens Towing worked alongside J.E. Oswalt & Sons to relocate the historic Strachan House from St. Simons Island, GA to Daufuskie Island, SC.

The 7,500-square-foot mansion was rolled onto twin barges, pushed up the Intracoastal Waterway, and guided through multiple bridges with barely a foot to spare.

Five knots. Tight clearances. Spring tides.

This is the work many of us grew up watching and loving. It’s part of our history. And the kind of job people still talk about decades later.

Stevens Towing partnered with Resolve Marine on a heavy lift recovery operation at the #PortOfCharleston.

After a 150-ton railcar carrying a 420-ton generator toppled during transport, our teams worked together to safely recover the railcar and cargo while protecting the surrounding dock infrastructure from further damage.

This “small salvage job” turned into a 300-ton recovery operation real quick.

After sitting submerged in Wappoo Creek since 2021, this abandoned 90-foot barge had filled with mud over the years, making the recovery far heavier and more complicated than expected.

Stevens Towing worked alongside @SCDNR, the U.S. Coast Guard, and @salmonsmarinecontractors to safely remove the wreck before it could continue posing a danger to local boaters and the surrounding environment.

As Jenkins Montgomery from our Heavy Lift Division says in the video… salvage work has a way of changing the plan once you get started.

Another successful reefing project in the books.

Stevens Towing partnered with the North Carolina Artificial Reef Program to support two major artificial reef enhancements offshore of Cape Hatteras and Ocracoke.

The project involved transporting and deploying approximately 3,000 tons of recycled concrete pipe, boxes, and culverts across two reef sites, AR-230 and AR-250, helping create new marine habitat and expand fishing opportunities along North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

📍 AR-230 is located approximately six miles offshore of Hatteras Inlet in 70 feet of water, while AR-250 sits roughly 10 miles offshore of Ocracoke Inlet in 80 feet of water.

We’re proud to support projects that improve coastal infrastructure, enhance marine habitat, and contribute to the long-term health of our coastal waters.

Three talented graduating seniors from @baptisthill_bobcats recently wrapped up their #apprenticeship at our Yonges Island Shipyard. Over the past semester, they gained hands-on welding experience under the guidance of William Holmes, and Linwood Wallace.

A huge congratulations to this year’s apprentices, and a special shout out to Marcus Heyward as this is his second time completing the student internship program, and we are excited that he will be continuing to work with us throughout the summer.
