Stevens Towing transports Navy INLS units
Stevens Towing Company transports the Improved Navy Lighterage System or INLS for the US Navy and Marinette Marine Corporation. For the last several years Stevens has provided both the Logistics and Transportation for all of the units built in Marinette Wisconsin to their final destinations of Jacksonville Florida and Norfolk Virginia. Stevens used both the northern passage through the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway, and the Western Rivers of the Illinois and Mississippi.

Stevens builds Oyster Reefs for NOAA and NC Coastal Federation
Stevens Towing was proud to be chosen by the North Carolina Coastal Federation and NOAA to build 2 large Oyster Reefs in the Pamlico Sound. Stevens moved and deployed over 54,000 tons of limestone rock for the project in just over 9 months. The reefs were 30 acres each, with one near Cape Hatteras NC and the other near Stumpy Point NC. The project was part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and employed over 85 people throughout the construction phases.

Stevens assists US Navy with Top Priority Tow
Stevens Towing Company moves an EA-6B Prowler with ultra sophisticated on board battlefield computer systems for the US Navy from Norfolk VA to Jacksonville FL. The aircraft was just home from service in Iraq.

Stevens Towing and Charleston Heavy Lift off load 308 ton Mega Yacht
Stevens Towing and Charleston Heavy Lift off loaded a 134 ft Mega Yacht built by Horizon Yachts out of Taiwan. This 308 ton yacht was lifted off of a ship and placed into the water in Charleston Harbor. The mega yacht was off the ship and placed in the water without a scratch in four hours. It was then taken around to one of the most popular marinas on the east coast, the Charleston City Marina, where it was owner prepped for its first luxury trip south.

Stevens Awarded Contract for Navy Submarine Commisioning
Stevens Towing Company was awarded the contract to provide a barge that will be used as a platform for the commisioning ceremony of the new Virginia Class submarine U.S.S North Carolina (SSN 777). This is the fourth Virginia class submarine and will carry the name of the state of North Carolina. More than half a century has elapsed since a U.S. Navy ship has borne the name, "North Carolina". Stevens Assists Norsar, LLC. and American Marine Co.'s Mega move to Africa
Three Stevens Towing Tugs assists Captain Garry Matthews and American Marine out of Charleston harbor with four of Charleston's oldest Terminal Cranes bound for Nigeria. These four Terminal Cranes rest on a 400X100 barge that has to clear the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge by only 10 feet. The tow made it through the bridge and out of Charleston Harbor safely to start her 6,000 mile journey to Lagos, Nigeria.

Charleston Harbor Bulk Cargo for NUCOR Steel
Stevens Towing Co. transports almost 1,000,000 tons of bulk steel commodities in the first quarter 2008 for NUCOR Steel. We moved a 1,000,000 tons of bulk cargo in only 74 days. These million tons of cargo used a total of 500 260 ft. X 52.5 ft. super jumbo hopper barges. The 500 barges is equivalent to 40,000 trucks and 10,000 train cars.

Stevens moves Heavy Lift Crane
Stevens Towing Company successfully pushed the Charleston Giant to Savannah in order lift two (2) electrical transformers weighing in at 347 short tons a piece. The trek to Savannah involved Stevens Towing Company tugboat captains to negotiate 106 nautical miles of Atlantic Intracostals waterways and 7 bridges while pushing a 180 x 82 foot floating crane with a vertical height of 55 feet. The journey took 36 hours to arrive and six hours to offload the two transformers from a container ship and load them onto a rail car.
